Let me Live

We all have read stories about nurses and medical assistants in long term care facilities or nursing homes or even in hospitals, that play God and terminate patient's life with powerful medications as it's in their power to do so.

Ana Rebelo had the power to terminate Buster's life and she didn't hesitate to think that she could be wrong. She saw an old dog with an illness and decided it was time. No permission from owner and no questions asked. She lied about admitting Buster for observation and within 30 minutes from admission injected fenobarbital and took his life. She dared say to my face " it's better this way. He will never be angry again!". But Buster was never, ever angry in his life! Did Ana Rebelo retaliate against Buster because " he was angry " at her? What can determine a veterinarian that is sworned to provide care and a humane approach to animals to act this way? She violated her oath to her profession, her oath to the dog's owner, because she could do it? Where was the manager of the hospital? Was anybody else consulted upon, before the decision was taken? Did HVP entire staff that was present accepted Buster's sentence with ease? Was this a single event or a routine for HVP? Are they empowered to clean up streets of sick , old animals? Is the government in Portugal in acceptance of such an exercise of illegitimate power over Animals incapable to defend themselves? And who was the true Animal here: Ana Rebelo or Buster?

Let me Live is a campaign I started to voice concerns of illegal euthanasia in Portugal and around the world of old animals that are Not terminally Ill. Please join me in this effort to stop veterinarians abuse power. To allow animals and their owners a farewell goodbye.
