Life threatening event
I was about 9 years when my regular veterinarian "saw " a tumor possibly in the spleen on Xray. She referred us to a big hospital with great surgeons. Mommy never questioned her credibility and booked an appointment with the best surgeon at that facility. There were no findings upon examination but he said we need to do certain tests in private. They took me away upon such scope and I was returned to Mommy 1 Hour later. The same night, it was a Saturday around 11pm I started panting, going limp and my gums went pale. I had a fast pulse and Mommy a doctor could tell , I was bleeding. She took me to the same hospital and I was admitted to the Intensive care unit. My condition was critical, over night towards daylight I was transfused and got ready to go in surgery for splenectomy. It wasn't clear I was stable enough for the operation but they suspected a tumor so it was a must. After hours in the surgery Mommy learned I did well and was in the recovery unit. She was allowed to visit and actually she came visiting 3 times a day while I was in the hospital. I lost my appetite and a lot of weight after surgery. I was depressed and not engaging in any long walks or games with people or fellow paw friends. The pathology came back as hematoma so no tumor and that was a Huge relief. We don't know to this day what caused the hematoma which usually is traumatic. Somebody either hit me or pushed me. I wish I could tell Mommy Who.
